CATS

Cats. What would cross your mind when this word is mentioned to you? An aggressive, cunning-looking beast that is often treated with disgust or those that are so angel-like and usually pictured while playing with balls of yarn? I hope you see the playful and adorable side of cats, simply because I am one too. Unfortunately, my life was never as pleasant.

My name is Tammy. I am a chocolate coloured Siamese kitten. I have a owner, an inhuman owner. Whenever he is drunk, he would use his wooded stick and batter me. What have I have done to suffer such fate? One morning, I saw a black figure lumbering at the doorway; he was drunk again. Quick as the lightning, i tried to get out of sight. Alas, his powerful fingers caught hold of my short fur.

"Why? Am I so scary that even a dumb cat like you wants to hide from me?"he flared.

Fear overwhelmed me, causing my heart to pound fast. Arrested by sheer panic, I froze, looking up at him and the wooded stake in his hands. I struggled desperately to free myself but apparently, being substantially smaller, he overpowered me effortlessly. the vicious blow sent me reeling across the room. Falling sideways, I felt like my left shoulder have been crushed. Indescribable pain penetrated through my nerves as I curled tightly on the cold marble floor, writhing in agony. One more swipe and my skull would be crushed. Predicting that he would 'grant' me another of his bone smashing blows, I ran for my life. The pain on my front leg was unbearable.

Limp and lifeless, I finally slumped down at the doorway. I never could make it out of this dungeon, never ever a chance again.

Cats

Imagine, a neat 2nd floor, executive flat. Designers sofa, satin curtains, well-polished parque floorings, a rare collection of vases and china, beautiful wall paper and a full wall mirror, all had their places, sitted comfortably in their positions. Until, the owner of this wonderful house, saw it upside down. Really upside down. The ten-thousand dollars worth collection of rare antique vases and china shattered on the ground broken into fractions of powder. Mirror cracked. Scratches on floor. Satin curtains, ripped. Wallpaper, scratched and peeled.
Was there a burglar in my house? Or, was there a cat in the house? How could so much happen when I was away on my wonderful holiday trip? Many questions appeared in my mind. Nevertheless, my suspicions were accurate. There was a cat in the house. But whose, you may ask.
"Has your cat been missing this few days? Like, for a moment or two, you didn't see your cat around in your house?" I asked my neighbour, Mdm Goh. A nod from her head told me i needed to check my house. Lock the windows and do

I stared intently at the wild animal I no longer know. Its long orange body were stripped with long killer black stripes. Its roar echoed from miles to miles away as it tears its food muscle from muscle. Then, it stopped and stared up at me. Our eyes met with an empty foreign air. I no longer know Tipper anymore….

A wild cat…… is not a pet cat. All these years I dismissed this fact, yet deep down I knew, one day, it would happen. I would lose him eventually……

Growing up in a remote village in Thailand , the forest was my playmate. One day, Tipper appeared out of the forest, injured, and orphaned. As a six year old, Tipper appeared as a beautiful cat in my eyes. Therefore I took him home and cared for him.
However, when I took him home, my parents were furious.

“ Are you insane? How could you bring that beast back home! Do you want to get us all all killed?” My parents would lament.

However, I refused to give in as I continued to care for Tipper, whom to me was always a faithful cat. Until one day…..

Cats

We watched. The sun sank slowly. The sky turned from blue to orange, from orange to pink, from pink to voilet, from voilet to indigo, from indigo to blue, and from blue to a deep, dark blue. The twinkling stars dotted the dark night. The glowing moon rose. We rushed out of out cover, into the night. We are cats, Clan cats.

A rat! Chase it! Hurry! Our bait! The Clan rushed after it, and found ourselves in front of the two-leg nest. Its door was shut. Look, our bait! A whole Clan of rats! We unshethed our claws, they glittered in the moonlight. Ready your fangs! Places, everyone! The raid is about to start! We moved closer to the clan of rats. At my Clan leader's screech, we pounced at the rats. Hah! I got one to myself! My sharpened claws served me well. With one scoop the helpless little rat was in the air. In a split second, it was between my forepaws. My fangs met its scruff, I bit down. Crack! There went its neckbone. Here came the warm gush of fresh rat blood.

Good catch! Time for phase two. There! Right on time! Vengence shall be ours! The other cat Clan was here. They were here to steal our food, and we were there to seek revenge! Thier leader gave the attack screech, and their furry leeches leapt forward. Without us, they would be dead! They keep stealing our food! Still, my warriors were ready for them. We crouched down as a sign of defeat, and when they were unprepared, we sprang at them and raked our claws into their furred skin. That triggered the crecendo of sharp, piercing Clan-war screeches.

"Leave! Leave now!!!" There! That telepathic signal! I let out another screech, and my Clan warriors ran for cover. The other clan padded over to our prey and sniffed the cold, still rat bodies. Suddenly, the two-leg nest door flung open. A huge two-leg towered above the shocked Clan of cats. The two-leg brandished a shiny black object and-BANG! BANG! BANG! Explosive thingies flew everywhere! From our safe view, oue enemy Clan scattered and fled. Angrily, the two-leg looked around for anymore cats. When it could not find any it disappeared back into its nest and slammed the door shut. Happiness fluttered within our haerts. We have been avenged. Even though our actions do not show our joy, it could be seen in our shining eyes. Still, thanks goes to the human who warned me telepathically. We need to repay him. We padded to the river, and each of our seventeen cat warriors caught a fish. We carried the fish to the door step of the Two-leg's nest. I meowed. The door opened to reveal a two-leg it was not as tall as the one who had attacked our enemy, in fact it was much smaller. We laid the fish at the door step as a form of grattitude. Then we padded away. The score between the Clans was even. My stomach growled. It was time for our dinner. Rat meat, here we come!

Cats

My eyes, pure as the snow. My fur, the color of dead leaves. Mark my territory with the claws; the scent of danger, leap away. Chase off the night, with the sound of a faint heartbeat. Collapsing in the moonlight, my owner lays motionless on the floor, colored red in the darkness. There was nothing I could do, in the view of white eyes. Happiness shut away by reality, I am no longer domesticated.

Wandering the streets, I knew nothing of what I was searching for. A new owner? A reason to continue living? Had I been a dog, would I have been able to protect my owner? All I could do was run away with my tail in between my legs. The moment the lustrous silver blade struck the being, the blood burned dark red with disgust. It was already too late for me to do anything. Then, the figure I saw at the alleyway looked just like him so I chased after it. Turning around a corner, a large figure overshadowed me. Looking up, all I could see was a malicious smile and an intimidating lure..

Crack. There went my right arm. A slow-effecting sharp pain then a twisted bone which dug into my lung. I felt pathetic; my owner needed my help yet all I could do was watch as I lost him. Now I’m being attacked and all I can do is cower before those superior than me. Even if my arm was broken, I still had my teeth and my papillae on my tongue. So I cut off the attacks by my fangs and severed my pain with my anger. Then, snap! My body crumbled under the pressure of being slammed into the wall. My consciousness fades to black..

I woke to the light that seeped into the cracks of my closed eyes. And saw a figure looking down at me. Afraid that it was my attacker, I tried to get up, but an excruciating pain that rang throughout my body didn’t allow me to. Paralyzed, I was paralyzed from the attacks. Voices, I heard voices talking in a language that I could not understand only such few words. Shiny, a shiny object was pointing my way. It had a very thin tip and was slightly bulky and had weird lines and numbers on a tube, together with a pressing part at the end. I wanted to move away, but all I could do was hiss at it. It made its way behind me and then I felt a gentle yet firm pressure at the back of my head, then a poking sensation at my neck. I felt dizzy almost immediately when whatever they inserted in me took effect. I laid my head down on the cold, bare tabletop. Everything became a blur. A sudden feeling of exhaustion came over me. Colors fused with one another before I closed my eyes. Drawing one last breathe, I relaxed my entire body as I drifted to sleep.

Conclusion paragraph for the Integrated Resort

Therefore, our decision is clear. Evidently, building IR in Singapore would unmistakably increase the number of tourist visits. Yet, it endangers Singapore even more as it attracts both tourists and terrorists, risking the endangering of more innocent lives. It also causes many social problems for us although the IR may solve our economic needs. Then again, there seems to be a contradiction. It solves our economic needs yet it does us more harm than good. Money lost to gambling and restoring of the situation. Why earn money only to waste it? Consider this before Singapore builds another “tourist attraction” on impulse. Remember, in order for our country to move forward, we need to have a peaceful community and enough wealth wisely spent for it too.
